Kicking it off this weekend is the 1950s fashion parade, ‘Frock Around the Clock’, at the Elderly Centre in Gawler on Saturday 3 May. Come along and support the national Trust and enjoy a great evening’s entertainment. Tickets are selling fast – call Bev Thom on 8522 2823.
Also on Saturday 3 May, you will be able to visit two of Gawler’s churches to view special displays. At the Zion Lutheran Church in Cowan Street you can check out the display ‘Gawler 175th – Early Lutheran Settlers and their Churches’, a chronological visual display with photographs, about early Lutheran settlers and establishment of their Church life at Gawler. The display is open 10am-4pm.
Also on Saturday 3 May (10am-4pm) and Sunday 4 May (12noon-4pm) the Anglican Church in Cowan Street will be open. You’ll be able to see the historic stained glass and leadlight windows, a spectacular display of approximately 200 colourful kneelers, the history of the Reid Family (1839 Clonlea) and a display of Governor Gawler’s gift of silver Eucharist service.
So much to see. So little time! #Gawler #AboutTime #Stainedglass
